Out of curiosity, I just talked to a UA phone agent who was very happy to autoprice the following remarkable round-trip itinerary:
The phone agent priced this trip the same way that ITA does -- as a 447,570 JPY round trip using round-trip B fare basis BWRFA1 valid for ex-Japan TYO-SFO travel. I triple checked the dates with her and we discussed the oddity of the international date line in this situation. Fare like this:

Now, I didn't actually ticket the reservation, but I think that given that the itinerary autoprices, and the quoted price and fare basis match what I got when I looked with ITA separately, it should have ticketed okay.
(I can also price out a similar reso on Air Canada's Web site with a link generated via ITA.) The phone agent I spoke to wouldn't put the reservation on hold for me, which is fair enough.
This is a pretty advanced scenario to get right -- congrats to SHARES!
Code:
26 March UA876 HND-SFO 0020-1745 (arrives on 25 Mar)
25 March UA875 SFO-HND 1930-2235
