So I'm slated to fly UA1699 today. The website and the app won't show a seatmap...and while my boarding pass did show me in a specific first class seat, I now get the dreaded "See Agent" message.
So I see an agent (two actually) who confirm what my new printed boarding pass now shows: "Open Seating."
My boarding pass simply shows:
Flight: UA 1699J
Gate: C102 Seat: Open
An agent encouraged me to get to the gate early since an earlier flight cancelled and it may get hectic with open seating.
My hunch tells me they're going to upgrade the equipment for this flight, but I sense due to technical issues, this IRROP event will lead to a gate meltdown in about an hour. Unless they really are moving forward with open seating, which should in itself create a meltdown.
