United: Please Fix Your Flight Search Engine

Lately, I have noticed for a simple round-trip the system seemingly tries to force people on certain connections, presumbly to protect revenue even though the routing rules permit certain connections. They seem to try and restrict the results to one connections if feasible. This is getting frustrating for me. I do not expect the system to give me convoluted routing, but the issue here for me is the time utility issue.

I am trying to book a trip to PSP in April for a golf outing, and I cannot leave earlier than 6pmish on Sunday night. I am not trying to book 6-8 connection MR here. I instructed the system to give me options departing after 6pm on Sunday night and the results only show options departing no later than 1pm with some 6am options being on the top of the list.

I have to resort to ITA to show me what options are out there then use multi-city on UA.com to try and get the flights I need, however UA.com wants $50 more than what ITA is showing since I am booking PSP-LAX then LAX-PIT whereas PSP-LAX is a V fare despite W fare being available for PSP-PIT via LAX/EWR, so I can't get the $575 fare I want on UA.com.

What I am asking, stop restricting the search results [1 connection restriction] and give us everything that is truly available. Remember, even we prefer 1 connection, the timing does not always work and will require a less convenient routing with more connections. I am having the same issue for a $560 PIT-RNO trip where the 1 stop options via DEN/SFO flight times [I want to arrive around 4-6pm] don't work whereas there are double connection options that work*

*I could fly PIT-SFO in the morning and sit in SFO until the late afternoon flight, but that will be considered a stop-over since the layover will exceed 4 hours. DEN flights arrive too early or too late [11am or 8pm]. This leaves me with connecting in IAD or EWR then onward to SFO then I can connect to the flight that arrives in RNO at 5pm. I do not want to force my family to waste a day skiing because they have to get me at the airport in the middle of the day or late in the night. The RNO situation is a little unique, but the PSP situation is VERY common for me.
