Just wondering if anyone knows who was right here:
LH flight (LH metal, LH flight number) connecting to UA flight (UA metal, UA flight number), all booked on a UA ticket (016)
Checked in with LH; boarding passes issued by LH for both LH and UA sectors.
LH flight severely delayed, and while still waiting for LH flight to take off, UA flight is cancelled.
Called UA to get rebooked, the UA agent had to contact LH: there was apparently then a huge disagreement between LH and UA as to who was responsible for rebooking me - LH says UA because the UA flight was cancelled and the ticket was a UA ticket; UA says LH since I've checked in and they control the reservation (or something like that) and the carrier responsible for IRROPS is responsible for rebooking the downward segments.
UA managed to resolve it by exchanging the ticket - but I still had to get UA again to contact LH to release the ticket so it could be reissued.
It took way over an hour - but since I was sitting in the plane waiting to take off it wasn't a huge deal.
Am curious what the right procedure should have been?
