I recently agreed to book a mileage award for a friend of mine who used to be a Silver to avoid the <21 day fee for 40,000 miles from Hawaii to the mainland. I have a trip planned to asia in a few weeks so I let him book a few room in asia since they don't require the 21 day advance to avoid a fee. When you sign on to the Hotel redemption you are offered lower miles to book the same hotel than someone without status. I found out later that he didn't requalify for his silver status. When I signed up as a 1K the hotel in Narita came down in mileage from 17,500 miles per night to 12,550 miles. When my friend who now has NO STATUS signed in he was offered the same room for 11550 MILES! He has never been higher than silver and now has NO STATUS!.... We went to my next hotel in SE Asia the nightly regular rate was 35,000 miles per night after I signed in as a 1K room rate went down to 28,450 miles per night, my friend signed in and booked the exact same room on the exact same day for 26,050 MILES!!! THIS IS FROM SOMEONE who now has NO STATUS and was NEVER higher than a Silver!.....COdbaUA is becoming more and more a joke, who is running this operation? IS SHARES USED IN THIS?
