Last August when SQ flights became avail on United.com, I wanted to do the EWR-SIN n/s longest commercial flight, so I booked our family 11 day vacation for 4 on biz UA awards 120k pts/pp to Asia for late May. EWR-SIN on SQ21 and SIN-ICN (3 day stop)-JFK on OZ752/222. Just received UA email that we've been changed to JFK-FRA-SIN SQ25 A380 outbound. Appears as if SQ21 has been cut from Tuesdays then, but is still flying day before and after. Looking for advice on what best do as this schedule/plane change has made me start to re-think the trip all over again. Also just became UA Plat so can make free changes at any point in future beyond this schedule change. I was already considering removing the ICN stop and using it in NYC for couple months to terminate this RT on West Coast later in 2013.
Love any and all thoughts on what smart FTers would do on this award booking. End goal was to spend 2-4 days each in 3-4 places in Asia not been before. Was considering SIN, ICN, Laos, Myanmar perhaps even Bhutan, Nepal.
I can try to get back on the n/s SQ21 if UA will let me move my SQ21 flight date up or back a day.
But perhaps there is a better way than 120k UA to get to Asia? I have miles in every alliance and in MR, UR, etc so can make almost anything happen, though UA is only place I can make free changes, so is value to still using them here.
