Nesting award itineraries

Hi folks. I know somewhat similar questions have been asked before, but I couldn't find a thread in the consolidated forum.

I'm planning a trip to Europe (from Australia) to use up the last of my United miles. My plan is a couple of nights in Singapore, fly to Istanbul, a few nights there, then fly to Split, make my own way via sea down to Dubrovnik, and fly back to Melbourne.

Now, that is two stopovers and an open jaw, which obviously I can't do. However I can easily do MEL-SIN-IST then DBV-MEL, declaring everything in between an open jaw, and simply pay cash for my flight from Istanbul to Split.

But the Istanbul to Split flight is expensive ($400ish) so I figure I might as well use miles for that as well. That gives me two separate award itineraries: a return open-jaw from Australia to Europe, and a one-way intra-European in the middle there.

My question: is this okay? Is this considered the "bad" kind of nesting, or the allowable kind? I'd hate to get my whole itinerary cancelled.
