Changing the outbound when the return is already upgraded

Hi folks,

I have a trip ERW to FRA in April and have cleared an upgrade for the return (used miles and co-pay) and my upgrade request for the outbound is still pending (miles and co-pay deducted already). There is upgrade availability the day before my current outbound date.

Questions: If I call reservations to leave the day earlier to get the upgrade now: 1) will I keep my return upgrade or does it get lost, 2) can they use the miles and co-pay already deducted for the original outbound, or do they subtract a new set of miles and co-pay and redeposit the original set.
