This is in response to confirmation numbers: XX79YZ, XXM815, XXE7MM, XX67t7, XXBNF4. Yes, I have 5 confirmation numbers affected, that is the hell I have been put through.
XX79YZ, XXM815: These refer to flights on 8/7 returning 8/21 for $733 from EWR->TXL->DEN. There are two confirmation numbers because UA's website does not support the verified by visa program on Google Chrome.
XXE7MM, XX67t7, XXBNF4: These refer to flights on 8/7 returning 8/27 for $650 from EWR->TXL->EWR. The first was issued online this morning. The second was issued by a customer service rep. The third was issued online tonight. I would like to fly on one of these confirmations.
I called United in response to a codeshare ticketing delay email on XXE7MM. At that time, the rep issued XX67T7, saying my credit card information wasn't on XXE7MM. The rep cancelled XXM815 as a duplicate booking.
I called United in regards to XX79YZ approaching its 24 hour cancellation window without XX67T7 being confirmed. United rep offered to extend the cancellation window to 48 hours, which accepted. United rep then fully confirmed XX67T7, and stated I would receive confirmation imminently via email (and then cancelled XX79YZ without asking me! I only found this out later.)
When I did not receive confirmation of XX67T7 as promised, I called United and was told to contact Brussels Airways. Brussels Airways then referred me to United.
I went to check fare availability. Due to the many problems I had, I booked the still-available fare with confirmation code XXBNF4.
I spoke to a United supervisor (after having to call back because the first 'transfer to a supervisor' resulted in my hearing the main menu again), MARY FD, who informed me that XX67T7 was was cancelled, XXE7MM was 'waitlisted' (she could not explain what that meant). She constantly tried to upsell me to a $300 per person flight more.
I then asked her to cancel all flights except XX79YZ. She informed me it had been cancelled, and the fare was on my United account. (I eventually got her to issue a refund instead.)
She refused to honor either the fare I was initially given (XX79YZ) that was cancelled without my knowledge, or the fare I had booked online (XXE7MM, XX67T7, XXBNF4). During this period, competitor flights have increased over $190 per ticket. I have received two confirmations of supposedly ticketed flights (XX79YZ and XX67T7), neither of which is accessible to me now.
UA should obviously fix this! I have been screwed by United's booking system, customer service reps, and supervisors. Facebook and Twitter have yielded no response. I have spent over 6 hours over 9 separate calls (confirmed by iPhone call log) on the phone and countless others on the internet. I am unable to afford a more expensive ticket.
The problems United has caused and their unwillingness to work for their customers in any way, shape, or form are appalling. I have been in their frequent flyer program since '87.
