Hello!
I need some guidance on how to get United to reissue a ticket booked on Asiana using United miles (or perhaps help figuring out how to get Asiana to take over this reservation and reticket it themselves). OZ cancelled the flight we were on and, once I contacted them to inquire, they are holding space on new flights the following day. They said they cannot reissue the tickets themselves, since United issued them originally (the ticket numbers begin with 016...). United seems to lack the creativity or initiative to be helpful because they say that since they cannot see the seats OZ is holding for us it cannot be reticketed and my only option is to cancel the trip entirely. Obviously, that is not an acceptable solution from my perspective.
When I spoke to Asiana they said they cannot reissue the ticket themselves. However, the United supervisor with whom I spoke said this is the only way it can work (it seemed like a passing the buck thing on this supervisors part, but how should I know?).
So, I have Asiana with seats they want me to use and tickets for which the miles have already been pulled, the taxes already paid, and for which I had reservations until yesterday and now I am in limbo. Can anyone advise me on how to get United and Asiana to communicate on this, or maybe to get Asiana to just issue the ticket themselves?
Thanks,
Muckus
