Hi all,
I was going to place this on the AF forum, but wanted to get the UA traveler's expert opinion and advice on this one.
My mom and I are flying out of LDE-ORY then I'll have over an 11 hour layover in CDG.
I got my mom this trip as a gift on United for the return flight so I decided to book the AF flight with the longest connection to get her back in time for the United flight at 11:20am and help her through getting from Orly to CDG. We are arriving Paris-Orly from Lourdes at 8:15am and will still need to collect 3 bags. We have bus tickets purchased already but was thinking of taking the CDGval train to hopefully get her to check in the bags on the united flight since we have an allowance of 70lbs and 3 bags (*G status). Do you think they can give a refund on the bus tickets or do you think we can make this tight united connection with the bus? I'm wishing for the bags to go stateside with her so I can avoid any AF bag fees on my return flight later in the afternoon.
***Have you heard of any UA agents in CDG who will override the 60 min cutoff? Can we do standby on the 11:55 to Ewr or will we risk the loss if the mileage ticket if she misses all US bound flights that day.
Thanks! Any help is greatly appreciated. I've placed myself in such a bind by booking multiple airlines but couldn't help that our desired destination requires us to use another airport in Paris.
