Best Hotel/Car loyalty program to maximize United miles?

I tried searching this and other forums and haven't been able to find any answers or similar posts... When I travel, I don't usually care about which hotel brand or rental car company I use; I just care about getting the most United miles.

For example if I look at my United MileagePlus statement I see United.com booking bonus, Elite bonus, and some other bonus miles for various Hilton, Hertz, Avis, and other hotel/car programs. Many of these also give #miles/day as well. I've been tracking my miles in an Excel spreadsheet since 2010 or so, so I can do an analysis of my own but I don't travel all that much so the sample size would be small.

Does anyone know which Hotel program (HHonors, Starwood, Marriot, etc) and Car program (Hertz #1club gold, Avis, alamo, etc). gives the most United miles per dollar spent?
