As a CO Elite for many years, I recall that we did not get complimentary upgrades on flights to Europe. We could pay a difference and use miles to get to 1st or BF but no complimentary upgrades. I'm wondering if United is the same way?
I'm a bit shocked at the European fares this year, and wonder if UA offers other ways (miles plus cash or just miles) or complimentary upgrades to get to first class?
The last time I bought a F class to Edinburgh was about a year and a half ago and it was 2200. The fares I see to Dublin, Edinburgh & London are all 4-5000 at least. I've been watching the fares since January, waiting for a drop.
So it it coach, or are there ways to upgrade? I remember many trips on CO but either I paid full fare (most often) or used UG with miles & cash. Just wondering if UA has CO's old policies (like no complimentary UGs) and UGs with cash/miles, or is it just a buy it as you want it scenario? Thanks!
