I want to book a "standard" 25k Economy award. ExpertFlyer shows YN availability ("Coach - Standard Award for Elites") but no HN availability ("Coach - Standard Award") for that flight. Other flights on the same day have both YN and HN available.
When I go to make a reservation on united.com, I only get available seats on flights that have HN. I am logged in to my Premier 1K account. Is it supposed to let me book the YN seat? What good is "Standard Aware for Elites" if I'm 1K and I can't book it? Any ideas?
OK, that's weird, I guess I have to respond to myself. Booked a different ticket and came back 5 minutes later and tried the same thing and now it works, it's offering me the YN award. Site glitch? Any way to know whether it's going to give me the correct fares, or not? I also notice that before it was saying it would charge me the $75 close-in booking fee, and now that's gone too.
