I'm planning a trip in Feb '14 and found an option I'm considering on Asiana: ORD-ICN-BKK and return. The B-class fare is reasonable ($2400) and miles to upgrade are 30K for each TPAC segment and 15K within Asia (90K miles total). I know that's a lot of miles, but it's less than 120K miles for a biz award ticket, I will earn PQMs, plus I'll get the fare reimbursed.
I realize OZ is moving to their older 777s on ORD-ICN this autumn, which might stick through early 2014. However, I've heard great things about OZ and have never flown them. I'd appreciate anyone's input on what they'd do in this situation. Presently, there is no R availability on UA near my dates of travel, and using SWUs on Fri/Sat is notoriously more difficult as well. Thanks in advance.
