I wish I had found this website earlier. United confiscated over 1,000,000 miles from me and cancelled 2 first class and 2 business class tickets I had pending claiming that I had sold some miles to a friend of mine; which I did not.
Here is what I received from United:
It has come to our attention that award tickets issued from your Mileage Plus account have been bartered or sold.
One of the responsibilities in maintaining the Mileage Plus Program is protecting its viability and ensuring that it continues to be mutually beneficial for all of its members and for United. The sale or barter of any mileage, certificates, awards, or benefits is expressly prohibited and exposes the member to penalties for violations. In addition, awards and/or tickets inappropriately transferred are void and may be confiscated or canceled.
Abuse of Program privileges, failure to follow the rules or any misrepresentation of information may subject the member to cancellation of accruals and benefits and termination from the Mileage Plus Program. Nevertheless, we have elected not to invoke that provision at this time, and your membership will be continued. Please be advised, however, that your account balance has been reduced by an additional 700,000 miles.
The upcoming travel for the following passengers has been revoked.

The tickets for you and Anthony were revoked to satisfy the large negative balance of your Mileage Plus account after the penalty adjustments were taken.
The reservations are still active for all the above passengers in the event you wish to repurchase tickets for travel. If the reservations are not ticketed by Monday, July 2, 2007, the reservations will be canceled.
Mr. XXXXXXX, future occurrences could subject your account to cancellation. We trust that you will understand our position and our need to preserve the benefits of the Mileage Plus Program for all of its members. If you have any questions relative to this matter, please feel free to contact me at: United Airlines, Attention [name removed, per FT Rules], WHQMV P O Box 66100 Chicago, IL 60666.

I was shell shocked to say the least. Her final reply to me:
Mr. XXXXX,
There isn't any way to dispute this. With admittance from the passenger it's evident that the sale took place. There would be no reason for her to volunteer the information that they paid a lot of money for the tickets. The confiscation stands. You are more than welcome to contact me via Email which is quicker than US mail, but there isn't anything further to discuss. As I said I wanted to give you the opportunity to re-ticket as space is at a premium during the summer months.

Any lawyers out there that want to help me out I would appreciate it. Has this happened to anyone else?
