I bought two JFK-IST-NAP return tickets on the Turkish Airlines website back in December. They were W class fares and back then (up till Feb 2013), the United.com page still showed that I could earn EQM and miles on My Mileage Plus account with a W class operated by Turkish Airlines.
But then I checked the United webpage again yesterday and they appear to have updated the miles earning rules. For flights operated by Turkish Airlines on Mar 1 2013 or later, the W class is no eligible to earn any miles on United's Mileage Plus account.
So who changed this? United or Turkish Airlines? Is there anyway I can have them honor my booking class since when I booked this, it was based on the fact that I could earn miles with the booking class (which has since changed).
The most frustrating part is to call the Turkish Airlines service desk. Even though they claim to speak English, they don't understand half the things I was trying to say. I was asking them if they can waive the change fee for me to upgrade to a fare that I can earn miles, and twice I called they gave me a completely different answer that has nothing to do with my question :(
