I have a reservation (one way) for 2 people (myself and a coworker). I used my last 2 GPUs on this flight (both GPUs expire this Oct. 31) and was successful in getting the upgrades confirmed. The flight is in less than 36 hours. The fare is non refundable.
My coworker, unfortunately for him and his family, has a family emergency and cannot fly this weekend. I assume I don't do anything at this point, and half of this reservation simply ends up a no show. But since I have never experienced this specific situation, I wanted to ask if there is a better way to handle this? One thing is for sure, above all else, I do not want to change anything/lose this seat (not that I would).
I was very happy that I was able to put my 2 expiring GPUs to good use. Unfortunately my remaining flights in October are not on UA metal. Looks like this last GPU is going to be unused/expire.
