Howdee -
I booked an award trip from Lima-Stockholm via Newark and Hamburg (to have breakfast with friends). I went to print out my itinerary, boarding passes, etc., and low-and-behold, the Newark-Hamburg leg was missing. I called United and was told that the leg (on Lufthansa) was cancelled at the beginning of April. Oops - sorry - no one seems to have bothered to rebook you or contact you regarding the cancellation of this flight.
I asked when Lufthansa had cancelled the flight - 15 March. I said that I had a United email confirming my itinerary on 3 April. I was put on hold. A few minutes later the agent came back and said that Lufthansa had cancelled the flight on 5 April.
Luckily! There was a United flight that I could get a seat on. My question - has this happened to anyone else? How did you handle the situation? Did you get any compensation for having to spend an hour+ on the phone sorting out the cancelled flight.
Thanks!
