This morning I flew home on Alaska, but got a call from United as I was walking to my car. I figured I was getting a flight status update, even though I wasn't flying United. :p
Anyhow, I was surprised to hear a reservations agent on the other end of the line instead of the UA phone robot. The IAH-based agent, who was super friendly and professional, was calling about an award ticket waitlist on SEA-IAD that had cleared. She called to confirm that I wanted to replace the previous flight with the new one (which I did) and re-issued the ticket while I was on the phone within 90 seconds.
Funnily enough, the ticket isn't even mine - it's for a friend traveling on a partner award using my miles.
The call was totally unexpected and went way above my expectations of United. Especially considering this change is for a trip several months from now and for a waitlist put in last week.
Has anyone else experienced this? Kudos to UA. ^
