I have to admit that I am a GPU virgin, having made 1K for the first time in 2012.
I booked an international itinerary a few weeks ago that departs tomorrow, and applied one of my GPUs to request upgrades, indicating both the domestic segment to IAD and the transatlantic segment to follow. Up until today, it was showing "Upgrade requested" for both segments. Today that has disappeared and it just shows "Complimentary Premier Upgrade requested" for the domestic leg--which is booked solid anyway.
Flight status for the international segment shows 40 BF seats, 37 booked, 3 checked in.
Questions:
1. Do I still have any shot at all at an upgrade via GPU for the international flight? What happens if they do not sell the 3 unbooked seats?
2. If I get no UG, will my GPU automatically be returned to my account? Right now, it is still showing a GPU total that has that one deducted.
3. Did I botch things by requesting UG on both the domestic and international segments? That is, if the domestic sold out in F so no UG available, would that cancel eligibility for the international?
