Mostly a question of frustration, sitting on UA6025 (Mesa) which was already an hour late "awaiting inbound aircraft" and after boarding and sitting in silence for a half an hour the captain finally announced that we had "had some maintenance issues stack up" this morning and that they had just called for maintenance to apply speed tape and we should be on our way soon.
I believe in CLE Mesa uses Constant Aviation (now a FlexJet subsidiary) for line maintenance issues so at least they're on field... But with not much else to do I find myself wondering since UA has a full line maintenance facility in Cleveland (and I think UA actually leases this specific aircraft to Mesa) why not leverage those facilities and staff? (I'm guessing "UA people are expensive" being the most likely answer, but would love it if there were a better reason)
And if anyone wants to hang out for ~4 extra hours in IAD.... 😁
