I am heading out to BKK from SFO come December 28th and the return date is sometime around January 21-23.

Ok, my question for those of you who astound me in your knowledge in this (and I am now addicted to just reading thread upon thread)
is this.....Does United Airlines have an algorithm in their booking engine that changes prices every x number of days and then maybe does not return to a previously lower price?
IE: I have been monitoring the price for over 2 months now and it has stayed steady at $1,192 and as of yesterday it jumped (economy seats that is) to 1,300ish.
Preferred flight is December 28th to January 21st or 23.
I am wondering if it is known if it a random fluctuation and to check back in a few days OR am I wasting my time and quite possibly missed out because United has a certain way of structuring their prices?
Any help would be appreciated.
