My nephew recently went from MKE to DEL on UA L fare ticket (codeshared on LH on FRA-DEL segments) a few weeks ago. He went to see the family, but also to get his visa extended from the US embassy.
He was supposed to return in about 5 days, but he has found out that the visa extension will be not be ready for some time until after the planned return.
What are his options, if any, in terms of changing the return flights, with minimal or no financial penalty?
He did not buy trip interruption/cancellation insurance; his credit card does not have this as a benefit.
