Hello,
New here, but I've lurked on the pages in the past and I know you guys can help me. Unlike most people on here, I am not a frequent traveler. I never have to travel for work, and all of my flights are solely for vacation and the infrequent conference. Domestically, I am okay with economy class as the flights are short and business isn't a huge upgrade on short haul flights that I've seen....the issue though is international travel.
I like to travel internationally about once a year or so. I have always purchased businessfirst from united for these trips, as I cannot imagine flying 12-20 hours sitting straight up with no leg room and horrible service. I'm a fan of the lie flat seats and just cannot travel internationally without at least business class. This is obviously expensive and has limited how much I can spend on the vacation itself somewhat.. This has been somewhat alleviated because while I do not travel enough to earn a lot of airline points, I do use cards that allow me to earn united points, and can usually find a saver business class seat if I look hard enough and I'm flexible with my dates.
My questions for all of you is this:
1. In terms of business saver seats, is united the best to be loyal to, or are there other brands I should consider with better availability?
2. How do united businessfirst seats compare to other airlines for international flights?
3. For someone earning points primarily through credit cards and not flying, is united the best choice with the best exchange ratio? I use the chase sapphire preferred and exchange 1:1 for united mileage plus points...but perhaps another card/airline combo would offer better bang for my buck? Maybe an AMEX partner airline?
Considering these things...am I best sticking with my current CSP + mileage plus combo, or is there possibly another credit/rewards program that would work better? Remember I'm mainly looking for "saver" business, internationally, with lay flat seats.
Thanks so much!
