I hope Im not reposting a common question, but I did search and didnt find anything similar to this.
We're not much of flyers, but my wife and I got in on the MileagePlus credit card offer a few months back for 55k free miles. We've now built up over 60k each and would like to book award tickets to LHR next year. Naturally, we'd like to be on the same flights and sit together. Is there any reliable way to do this? We thought about booking our tickets separatly for the same flight, but Im not so sure we could get seated together. I also thought about making the reservation over the phone, and having the agent take each of our bookings separately and sitting us together. I realize this will incur a small fee for doing it over the phone but figured if we can sit together it would be worth is. Then I thought of this possibility: Could each of us book 2 one way tickets, one of us books the outgoing flight and the other book the return flight? I think that's the best option for sitting together, but can you do that? I know we will lose that chance at the "extra leg" if we go that way, but it would be totally worth it if we could make sure we're together both to and from LHR.
