Searched for answer, couldn't find it. Sorry if this old topic.
For the first time in ten years I will find myself in economy. Worse yet, it's on a transpac, LAX-NRT-BKK.
Economy is sold out. E+ (Econ Premium) is wide open.
What is the strategy for getting an empty adjoining seat? Buy up now, or wait for others to buy up and hope someone clears out from next to you.
For those who routinely fly this route, and might happen to look back into the coach sections, how often does E+ fill up?
I have a non-upgradable fare (blame my client) but don't mind paying a few hundred if it means I have a decent chance at no elbows in my gut. I would be annoyed (at myself) if I bought up and then had someone seated next to me. (I don't care about leg room, even at 6'0".
Thoughts?
TIA.
