It is that time of the year when I've gotten about 80K EQM's for the year as a 1K and my experience has been less than stellar. I also re-qualified as an Exec-Plat on AA, with a good experience until the past few months.
I will likely be able to achieve another 5 - 10K through regular business travel during the rest of the year, and I'll try to book it on United, even though my upgrade rate and flight delays/cancellations has been pretty bad during the year.
Here's the question (sorry for the long-winded setup): I have been unable to use my GPU's all year long due to fare rules and lack of inventory assigned to flights for upgrades. I also may need 10K miles to requalify as 1K for next year. I was looking at doing a quick weekend MR from AUS-AMS in December, and hoping to use a GPU to upgrade (was even excited about the possibility of trying out the 787). Though with my past experience am afraid that GPU's won't clear and I will spend a weekend flying around in painful Y.
