Use *gold benefits Earn UAP?

Good Afternoon,

I am looking at switching airlines from Air Canada to United. I am SE with AC and do not want to start over in regards to FF status.

I have heard it's possible to use my AC *gold benefits while accruing points to my new United Mileage plus program.

Can someone please confirm if this is true?
