VDB at T-1 Month?

My wife and I were offered VDB for a flight after Christmas and took $200 each to move to another flight in the same day. No re-route, PS non-stop, equally convenient flights.

Is this typical to do this more than a month out? Never happened to me before.

It seems awfully organized and pro-active. Whodathunkit.
