I was trying to book a flight home during the holidays (SFO->FLL->SFO) on Dec 16 returning Jan 5.
Online it shows that I can get a saver first class for the SFO->FLL segment aboard 355 and 1196 and going back I can do it on a US Airways flight. So after a day trying to book it online (it kept erroring out), I gave up and called reservations. After speaking with some agents that either couldn't find the flights/couldn't find an award for that flight/speaking with a supervisor that would only see a flight after I said "I can see it in front of me", I got transferred to website support.
The website support agent after spending an hour on the phone with said that, there is no saver spots on the SFO->IAD leg of my trip but she could do saver on IAD to FLL, despite it showing up on United.com, so after a total of 2 hours I settled for that.
Anyone think if I call up again they can change it to what I originally wanted. Normally I wouldn't care as much, but I want to use the last few thousand points since I haven't accumulated any United points since the merger (all my current points were actually from Continental I believe). I also faced a lovely $75 service fee since the website didn't work yesterday forcing me to miss the 21 day period.
