Is there an easily-explainable way to select my routing if I'm hoping to put myself on flights with the best opportunity for an upgrade (miles/purchase) from E to either F or B? (As I understand it, I could only ever move up one level, so it would depend on the jet type as to which class I could hope for.)
I've seen some threads, but they seem to apply to elites, not peons. Some of the terminology is unknown to me, so is there an 'abbreviations dictionary" of sorts on here?
Different issue: Does my routing have to be logical to UA? For instance, I've considered an odd routing for one possible trip, just so it would allow me to fly on the new 787.
Is backtracking to some extent allowed?
