I will be flying FWA-KRK in June 2013. Most likely it will be on a one way ticket booked through my corporate travel agency and should be Y class based on dates I looked at using the agency tool. I will then be making RT flights roughly once a month which will not be in an upgradeable fare from what I’ve found but still will be booked through my corporate travel agency. Most likely I will be able to fly United/Lufthansa/LOT, so I would like to credit to United if possible to get as high on the elite ladder as possible. Couple prelim questions:
• I have 40K US Airways miles. IF I were to somehow be able to upgrade on my first Y class ticket using miles to Business class, would I still accrue MQMs and award miles, or do I lose any by using the award miles. What would I have to pay in cash to upgrade, assuming I would have the opportunity
• From test bookings, it seems if I book on actual Lufthansa flights, it’d be in R which I don’t believe qualifies on United’s partner list. Is this correct?
Would appreciate some answers to the above. Trying to make the most out of this work assignment :). Would appreciate any tips/tricks to look into as I am not familiar with *A that well either.
