I have a couple of question about traveling with golf clubs on an award ticket that I hope can be clarified. I am traveling next month domestically on an award ticket and need to bring my golf clubs. I will be using miles for myself and a buddy of mine for a golf getaway. I heard if you have a United Explorer Visa card, the first bag is free. Now, if I pay the ticket taxes for the award tickets with my Explorer card for both of us, since the reservation will be made from my account, do both of us get the first bag (golf bag) checked for free?
