I opened ua.com this morning and was taken to this page, which I've never seen before:
MileagePlus Account Update
Verify Your Information
We've found some inconsistencies in your identification information.
To comply with the TSA Secure Flight program, the information on your flight reservations must exactly match the government-issued photo ID that will be shown at the airport. In addition, to ensure that you receive mileage credit and other MileagePlus benefits, the name on your MileagePlus account must exactly match your travel documentation.
Please select the option below that exactly matches the government-issued photo ID that you use when traveling. If none of the provided options are accurate, select “None of the above.” Note that you will only be able to update your account through this process once and that any changes made will be reflected in your MileagePlus account immediately upon submission. Any future changes to this information must be made through the MileagePlus name change process. Review frequently asked questions about updating account information.
Note: If your name differs between your government-issued photo IDs, please contact the appropriate government agency to update your documentation.
Nice work, Sherlock! My last name consists of two parts, separated by a blank space. In airline tickets, this is not allowed, and SICK BAG becomes SICKBAG. I obviously confirmed the former over the latter, as it matches my passport, but of course it won't match what it says on my airline tickets. Knowing SHARES, I am not optimistic about where this will lead - anything from denied boarding to denied mileage credit, I suspect.
