I was just rebuffed at the IAD TSA Pre Check line ("do you have an electronic copy of your boarding pass? this one won't scan") and the Lufthansa lounge when I presented my boarding pass, freshly printed by a UA kiosk at the check-in area.
The TSA agent said "we've been seeing readability problems a lot lately with these kiosk boarding passes" and happily accepted my Kindle where I had happened to get a mobile boarding pass.
The LH agent said about ten words total, was unable to scan either version of my boarding pass, asked whether I had a "gold card" while holding my 1K *G card, ignored the guy behind me who said "please just let me in and call him my guest" (but let him in), advised me to use the United club instead (ouch!), and, when I insisted politely that "I have a *G card and a *G boarding pass and I think that's what the manual says I need", finally gave up and wrote my name and PNR on a scrap of paper next to a dozen other similar scraps of paper on her desk.
