I'm flying Sunday and it's F0Y0 so I called and find out it's only overbooked by 1. I haven't flown the route in awhile, but i recall last time i did, it was overbooked by 30 and they took 2 VDB's. the time before it was overbooked by 20 and they took standbys.
What's going on? Have travel patterns changed that much? Or is this one of the reasons their PRASM is tanking, because they are afraid to pay $250 in funny money, so they lose the $1,500 Y fares they sell when they overbook the plane by 30 folks. Is it another example of penny wise, pound foolish?
