First trip to LHR in ages, trying to decide whether to stick with UA from EWR or try Virgin Atlantic.
Price is not an issue - the client will pay for one coach class ticket, any price. (As it happens, the VS is $3000, the UA is $1500).
The VS schedule is slightly better: I can make their 8pm LHR-EWR but not the UA 6pm, so VS gets me home a day earlier.
But I'm Gold on UA and have no status on VS or any of their partners. (Not expecting to be upgraded, but I presume it might help a little in the case of IRROPs). Also, miles earned on VS will most likely be stranded.
UA is a single-aisle Boeing (3/3); VS is a double-aisle A340 (2/4/2).
Any comments/advice?
