Considering a 2-week trip, SFO-SYD-CHC AKL-SFO in January.
AZ is coming up just under $2400 with a layover in AKL for the SFO-SYD leg and United is coming up at almost $3250 with a layover in SYD for the AKL-SFO leg.
Putting aside the PQD issue for now (though this flight would be towards re-gaining at least Premier Gold), what are the advantages of paying almost $900 more to fly UA metal?
Does E+ make the long flights more tolerable?
