Recently booked my first UA award tickets - SIN-PVG-NRT-HNL in J - a bit of a trek to get from SIN to HNL but that was the shortest option we had for early September that wasn't phantom availability. Having never done a trip with multiple carriers before - SIN-PVG on SQ, PVG-NRT on ANA and NRT-HNL on UA - I had a couple of questions for anybody who might have done something similar -
Do our boarding passes get issued at Changi (SIN) for all our flights or do we get them issued separately as we land at each airport?
Also, does anyone know if you need to pick up your bags and check in again at PVG? The reason I'm asking is because my wife is a Malaysian passport holder so she's not entitled to a 72 hour visa-free transit which I am. I tried asking the UA agent who said she thought she would be ok while I'm not too sure the embassy would be able to answer the pick up bags and check back in again part.
