Dummy Booking - What is it and how do I do one?

I'm trying to get an estimate of what an E+ seat will cost on a future flight, and I understand doing a dummy booking can help me do this. What exactly is a dummy booking and how do I do it? Do I just enter dummy information into the website and stop before entering payment info but after selecting my seat?
