On one of my recent flights with United, I was allowed to choose any of the economy plus seats for free when I was checking in at an airport kiosk - is this likely to have been deliberate or is it just a glitch?
I don't remember how full the flight was but there were loads of economy seats left for me to choose from (though I did check-in pretty early - so that's not to say economy wasn't going to end up overbooked later on) and I have zero status with the airline.
