I'm looking to book an award trip with my wife and infant this fall to Europe. Is there any negative to booking our tickets on separate reservations from our respective accounts? I have enough miles for two RT biz tickets, and she has enough for one RT biz ticket. We intended to use the remaining balance on hotel rooms, but for some reason my MP account gives us lower miles/night required to book the hotel. We both have same general member status, and we were both logged in to the hotels section for preferred milages pricing.
So instead on using my account for the air travel and her account for hotels, I'm thinking of splitting our air reservation, and using the balance of my miles for hotels. I looked and taxes on the tickets and the 10% infant fee would be the same split vs same reservation. Booking the outbound from one account and the return from another jacks up the fees/taxes, so that won't be an option. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. We would have to connect in Europe prior to getting to our destination, we plan to waitlist for the direct routing. Could that complicate things if we aren't on the same reservation? Thanks everyone!
