Don't know if anyone else got this message, but I am flying to LIM in late March and I received the following from UA:
"We are pleased to announce that our flights between Houston and Lima, Peru, are now scheduled* with a newly reconfigured Boeing 767-300 aircraft featuring United BusinessFirst®service in the premium cabin. Customers in United BusinessFirst can enjoy 180-degree flat-bed seats, on-demand entertainment, multi-course dining options and more. Our United Economy® cabin has also been refreshed, and now offers on-demand entertainment and power ports at all seats.
Because of the change to the premium cabin service, the upgrade policies for this route will change to match other routes that offer United BusinessFirst service. Effective February 6, 2013, this route will no longer be eligible for Complimentary Premier Upgrades, Regional Premier Upgrades or instant upgrades. Premier® members wishing to upgrade between Houston and Lima may use a Global Premier Upgrade (from select fare classes) or a MileagePlus Upgrade Award (co-pay may apply). Learn more about our upgrade policies.
Our records indicate that you have a flight between Houston and Lima after these upgrade changes take effect. Since your flight was booked before the changes were announced, we have upgraded your reservation to United BusinessFirst, with our compliments. Yet another sign of the times...this will probably be my last year as a 1K - hopefully the service at least matches the "cost" of the upgrade. Luckily I uprgraded with miles and $.
